Welcome to the World, Sofia Belle!

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

On Friday, October 17, at 4:50am Sofia Belle graced us with her presence.  She is the spitting image of Erik (she even has his blood type!) but I can't be too mad because he makes a pretty cute gal. ;)
There are no words to describe the love that has consumed me.

Nursery Tour

Sunday, October 5, 2014

With only 2 weeks to go until my due date, I thought it was time I finally shared a peak into baby girl's nursery. She still doesn't have an "official" name but she's got a cute room! And that's what matters, right? jk jk LOL.
Erik's favorite thing to do is tell me, "You can pick out the name. Whatever you want I'm okay with." Then I think of the the most perfect name and he makes a face like, reeeeeeally, that's what you came up with. Or says it's too close to his boss' name. Or that's the name of our neighbor's dog.
We're both pretty convinced (and livin' on a hope and prayer) that when we see her, we'll just know.
But enough about names. Let me distract you from the fact that our child could be born in less than 14 days and doesn't have a name with a really cute nursery!!

Happy Sunday!

We're Having A Baby Next Month!

Monday, September 1, 2014

I woke up this morning and after realizing what day it was, I can't believe Baby A will be here next month! Unless she plans to do something cray cray and show up early or way late (my actual due date is October 19). I've never been one to want to know the future, but I would love to know exactly when baby girl plans to make her debut. But until then, I will continue cleaning like a mad woman, washing baby clothes, reorganizing our closet over and over, and decorating the nursery. Just like this babe is close to having a name (I know at one point she had an "official" name) the nursery is close to being done! So here is a peek into what we've got going on so far for our currently nameless and aerobatic baby gal.

Happy Labor Day, friends!

Baby Shower Shenanigans

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

This Saturday my mom hosted a beautiful baby shower at her house for Baby Anderson & me. It was filled with family, friends, great food, and fun. Our future bambino is definitely already loved so much and I think she knows it. I woke up Saturday morning to her having a dance fest in my belly... she was ready to party!

My BFFs Ali & Sarah

My mom & sister

3 1/2 generations

We played "Guess Who Brought the Onesie" which proved to be a lot harder than I expected. Either I'm not a very good guesser or everyone is way too creative. Or a combination of the two.

Baby A now has 100x more clothes than Erik and I combined, I swear.
And is 100x more stylish.

Sarah's younger sister is an amazing baker, and made these gorgeous (and equally delicious!) cupcakes for the shower.

Then everyone had to sculpt a baby out of bubble gum. And contrary to how I imagined this going down, the gum was not supposed to be chewed prior to sculpting.

Here I am with the winner...

...and some close seconds.

After the shower was all said and done, and the boys got back from golfing, we ended the day with some BBQ & board games.

It was such a great day, thank you again to everyone who made it so special for us!

5 | Things I Kinda Sorta Didn't Know About Being Pregnant

Friday, July 11, 2014

I heard about a new, awesome link-up with September Farm yesterday and I thought why not join the party?! So today I bring you 5 things I kinda sorta didn't know about being pregnant. Now it's not like I had no idea any of this would happen, just maybe not with the vengeance it did. Without further adieu, numero uno..

1 | You'll get two new girlfriends.  They are large and in charge. They've got a mind of their own. They're boobs. I refer to mine as two huge, floppy pancakes but Erik decided "flapjacks" was a better word for them. So I have flapjacks for boobs. Oh please please please go back to your normal size one day.

2 | Mood swings? More like mood ATTACKS. PMS has nothing on pregnancy. And if PMS is any precursor for the mood attacks you'll experience when pregnant, I should have known this was coming.   I cried (hysterically) for 30 minutes the other night because Erik said he saw a lizard in our house. I then texted him the next day while he was at work thanking him for putting up with my insane pregnant self.

3 | Naming a baby is hard. SO. HARD. I actually did an entire post on this, but had to mention it again. What seems like my whole life I've been thinking of baby names I liked but when it comes to the name YOUR kid will have for their ENTIRE life, it really adds some pressure. Baby Anderson miiiiiiight have a name, unless we change our minds yet again. But I plan to stick with the one we've got. Unless we think of a better one.

4 | There's a tiny human growing inside you. Like I said, these aren't things I had NO idea would happen. Obviously I know I'm pregnant. How people wind up on the show I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant and give birth in a toilet I'll never know. But some nights I wake up in the middle of the night and think, "I can't believe there's a baby in me!" It's like I just can't wrap my mind around it. It's cray.

5 | Pregnancy brain is real. So real I almost forgot to add this to the list (I'm not kidding). I forget to text people back, leave my purse in restaurants, my cell phone in shopping carts-the list is endless! I told my coworker this must mean my kid is gonna come out really smart based on how many brain cells  she's stealing from me; she informed me there was no correlation. A girl can dream.

And because this is a pregnancy post & such
here's a picture of me at 14 weeks and (now) at 25 weeks.

Happy Friday!!

Naming A Kid Is Hard

Sunday, June 29, 2014

I've been thinking of baby names I liked since I was about nine. I can pinpoint it to my 9-year-old self because one of the names I distinctly remember liking was Arthur; because I thought (and still think) Arthur is the greatest show ever. Except my 25-year-old self does not want to name my child after a talking aardvark in a yellow sweater.

I've mentioned before I had a feeling from very early on that we were having a girl, so I only came up with girl names. Once I got Erik on the "it's a girl!!" wagon, I would bounce names off him. All of which he hated. Except one. On our way to San Diego back in April, we were discussing baby names and came up with the name I was certain we would name our daughter. And once we found out it was definitely a girl, I thought, "and she already has a name!" My plan was to not tell anyone the name until she was born, but Erik and I are the absolute WORST at surprises, so we told most people we knew. Although I discussed her name with family and friends, I hardly ever referred to her by name. I was afraid, "what if we change our minds?! and she's heard us calling her this name the whole time and she comes out utterly confused about life??!" Blame the crazy on the pregnancy hormones.

Last night, Erik and I were standing in her nursery when he asked me what I thought of a new name. Except he didn't say "new name," he actually said the name (which I'm not going to disclose right now because it's a lot easier to keep a secret when you have to type it out). I was actually quite shocked he liked the name, and before I let myself get too excited about it, I asked if he was for realz. And he was indeed for cereal. He then played me a song that has the name in it and we danced in the living room and I felt so happy in that moment, I thought this is the one. But who knows really. My mom has told me 29382910 times you have to wait to SEE the baby first. I really commend people who pick their kid's name early in their pregnancy and stick to it. This whole naming business is a lot harder than I expected. But whatever her name may end up being, she'll be our sweet babe.

Monday, May 19, 2014

Yes, I think people touching my belly out of no where is a little odd, but I was prepared for it. What I wasn't prepared for are some of the phrases I hear over. and over. that quite frankly should never be spoken to a pregnant lady!

Do you really need a milkshake? Yes. I REALLY need a milkshake. Why would I order a milkshake if I didn't REALLY need it?! What a stupid question.

Wooooooo!! Now everyone has a driver! News to me that I got pregnant and also became a chauffeur!

Calm down. I AM CALM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! You ate all that?! Yes, now give me what's on your plate because I'm still hungry.

Happy Monday!
