5 | Oh Yeah, I'm Getting Married

Friday, November 21, 2014

Oh Hey, Friday! Nice to see you again! With all things baby recently, you I may have forgotten I'm getting married in just over six months. When Erik and I got engaged in February, June 2015 seemed like an eternity away, but now it's right around the corner. Funny how that happens. So today I bring you 5 of the 187 things I still need to do.

1 | Send invites.  I guess we want people to actually attend our wedding, right? It took us long enough to send out Save the Dates, who knows when the actual invite will go out. And I'm just now recovering from writing addresses on nearly 100 envelopes and licking all those stamps. Did you know when Erik and I finally sat down to send out our Save the Dates he said his job would be to "lick the stamps." What is this 1995?! He really, really thought you still had to lick stamps. Oh, my future husband.

There's our Save the Date. We make a cute wine glass and bottle, huh? Also, don't know why I said I was writing addresses on envelopes, seeing as this is a POSTCARD.

2 | Food.  I would say I could just send this blog post to everyone on our guest list and call it a day. But I suppose part of the reason you need to send out wedding invites is to conduct a small survey of what people want to eat. Except we haven't decided what food will be served. So there goes half the invitation. But the important thing is that there will be an open bar.

3 | Find a wedding dress.  Oh right, that thing I'm supposed to wear. Not only have I not started looking for a wedding dress, I have no idea what style dress I want to wear. I do watch Say Yes To The Dress anytime I happen to catch it on TV, that counts for something, right? I'd also like to be in better shape before I start wedding dress shopping, which brings me to number 4...

4 | Stop eating like I'm pregnant.  You know, it's really hard to do something for 9 months and then just stop cold turkey. Mmmmmm turkey, Thanksgiving, pumpkin pie. You see what I mean? My mom told me yesterday I was "just as skinny" as I was before I was pregnant. Then later she asked if the jeans I was wearing were pre-pregancy jeans. Ummmmm I thought I was just as skinny as I was before I was pregnant?! Gotcha there, Mom.

I made this for breakfast the other morning. Ooops.

5 | Cake, flowers, officiant, tuxedos.  All minor details. And if you're following along closely, you probably noticed no where did I mention bridesmaid dresses. I gave that responsibly to my bridesmaids. Genius! I sent out a "very confusing" (their words, not mine) mass text one morning telling my "easily confused" bridesmaids they would get to pick out their own dress and shoes. Takes the pressure on me, puts it on them. But hey, now no one can be mad they don't like their dress!

Okay now that this post has throughly stressed me out, I'm off to wedding plan. Just kidding. Probably make another bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit.

First Comes Love, Then Comes...

Baby?! In case you missed my last post, Erik & I are expecting a pumpkin in October! But before I even found out I was pregnant, and even before we got engaged, we knew we wanted to get married in the summer.  Since we got engaged in February, this summer was out of the question, so summer 2015 it was!
We also knew we wanted to get married in Temecula, CA.  Erik & I went to visit some of his friends in Temecula about 3 years ago and absolutely fell in the love with the wine country. It is beautiful and SO much fun! We also met in California, so it was perfect!
This past weekend, my mom, sister, and girlfriends, Sarah & Kate headed off to the vineyards to pick the place Erik & I would be getting hitched. We went to 5 places and literally after leaving each place I said, "THIS is the place we're going to get married!"
Until the last place absolutely stole my heart.
I honestly can't remember the particular wineries we visited 3 years ago, so when planning this trip, I was just choosing places that looked nice and could schedule a tour for the time we needed.  But I had a feeling about the last place we were going to visit from the beginning.  Although each place was fabulous, everything about the last place was perfection.

So on June 13, 2015, Erik & I will be getting married here!

Our girls' weekend in Temecula was such a blast (even though there was no wine tasting for me) and I can't wait to share our special day with the amazing friends and family we have in our lives!

Here's some more shots from our Wedding Wine Weekend..

My breakfast Sunday morning, "Elvis french toast"
... french toast stuffed with peanut butter & bananas. YUM.

Happy Thirsty Thursday, friends! Have some wine for me!

Weekend Recap

Sunday, March 30, 2014

You know it's gonna be a great weekend when it starts with a Chikfila oreo milkshake! This weekend, Erik & I headed up to Scottsdale to visit some friends and family and on our way there, I had the absolutely brilliant idea to stop at Chikfila.  (Bonus genius points--it was Friday! I seem to only have Chikfila cravings on Sundays when, of course, they're closed. Does this happen to anyone else?!)

So we got into town Friday night, met up with some friends for sushi and ended the night playing Pictionary.

On Saturday, Erik and his brother played golf and I got to see my college bestie, Kate, who was in town from San Diego.  She was staying at a resort in the area and it was a gorgeous day, so we decided to spend the afternoon laying by the pool.

and no pool day is complete without a quesadilla & guac

I had seen my BFF, Sarah the night before and when I saw Kate Saturday afternoon, I officially asked both of them to be in bridal party.

Sarah, Kate, and the rest of the girls (including myself!) absolutely loved the adorable labels I found on Etsy at the ClassicWeddingDesign shop.

Saturday night, we BBQ'd at my parents house and watched UofA lose against Wisconsin (womp womp).  We had Kobe with us at my parents, Erik's brother and girlfriend brought their dog, and my sister brought her new puppy to join in the festivities, too.

There's a reason Kobe isn't in these photos.  One dog, he can handle, more than that, he gets real awkward.  He's the dog you can find at the dog park sniffing the patch of grass as far away from the other dogs as he can get. Poor Kobs.

And since we started this mini roadtrip with some delicious food, why not end it the same way?! On our way back to Tucson, we stopped at our favorite drive-thru breakfast place and I picked up this bad boy: eggs, tomato, bacon & pesto on a warm croissant.

This weekend was fabulous, so I have a hard time saying this was the highlight but I'm pretty excited about the newest addition to our home.  My aunt & uncle purchased this for us as an engagement gift.  And what home is truly complete without a bar car?!

Hope you had the best weekend ever, bring it on Monday!
