Humpday Bumpday: 36 Weeks

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

A snap of my mom and I this weekend at our mini spa vacation.

How far along: 36 weeks
Gender: GIRL!
Weight gain: 30 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Can I be done with these now?!
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: It's still not officially out, but it has its moments.
Sleep: The poo pillow (Snoogle) is baaaaack. I'm learning to love it now. Even if it is a biatch to navigate, once I'm in it makes sleep so much better.
Best moment this week: My weekend of relaxation and prenatal massage was pretty perfect.
Miss anything: If you didn't guess from the maternity clothes question, I miss my regular clothes. Almost as much as I miss wine.. which says a lot!
Happy or Moody: Happy!
Movement: Lots of nudges and baby hiccups these days. She also almost always reacts to Kobe barking.. bonding with her big bro already.
Cravings: Waffles and peanut butter
Symptoms: Tailbone/back pain, lots of pressure on my bladder which makes me feel like I have to pee 24/7.
Looking forward to: Erik and I are going to a Yelp even tonight, so I'm looking forward to some good food and entertainment!

Humpday Bumpday: 35 Weeks

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

How far along: 35 weeks... only 32 days until my due date!!
Gender: GIRL!
Weight gain: 30 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Yep! The maternity dress I'm wearing this week from Tarjay is one of my faves.
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Sometimes it's in, sometimes it's out--it's got a mind of its own.
Sleep: Has been so good! I'm hoping it stays that way.
Best moment this week: We went to the Last Comic Standing comedy tour last night and it was absolutely hilarious. Baby girl was moving around the entire time too, clearly she wanted to party.
Miss anything: I just received a Snapchat of pumpkin ale.... can't wait to indulge in one of those! And some wine.
Happy or Moody: Happy!
Movement: She moves around so much sometimes I swear she must be plotting her escape.
Cravings: Hummus, peanut butter, soy chai lattes.
Symptoms: My hands got so swollen the other night my engagement ring didn't even fit. Luckily this was only temporary and I think it was from all the walking we did at the football game on Saturday. Maybe??
Looking forward to: Tomorrow we graduate from our prenatal class! And my mom is coming this weekend and we've got a mini spa vacay planned, cannot wait for a massage!!

xoxo

Humpday Bumpday: 34 Weeks

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

How far along: 34 weeks. Some days 6 more weeks seems so close and sometimes it seems so far. And if I have to hear "You look like you're about to pop" for the next six. weeks. I might pop someone myself. Just kidding. Maybe. Kind of.
Gender: GIRL!
Weight gain: 27 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Fa sho fa sho
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: In and still hanging on for dear life!
Sleep: Ugh. I'm so tired but sleep is not easy these days. I've tried using my Snoogle again, but it makes turning from side to side even more difficult and uncomfortable. Everyone seems to rave about their preggo pillows.. am I doing something wrong?!
Best moment this week: Erik has been on a diet for the past few weeks and although I am so proud of him, it's really an unfortunate time for dieting in this household. I try to eat whatever he's having for dinner, but tonight he's working late, so stuffed crust pizza it is for me!!!
Miss anything: Eating peanut butter without the inevitable heartburn. Why not just stop eating peanut butter you ask? #cantstopwontstop
Happy or Moody: Happy!
Movement: Sometimes when she moves I feel like I need to stretch out myself so she can have more space in there.
Cravings: Cereal. Erik commented this weekend that he had never seen someone quite as into cereal as I.
Symptoms: Heartburn. I'm curious if after all this heartburn baby girl will actually come out with flowing locks.
Looking forward to: We're going to a UofA football game this weekend, and although I always feel like a bit of a traitor cheering for UofA, I can't say I'm not excited for the game!

Humpday Bumpday: 33 Weeks

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

We got a little sneak peek of the maternity photos we had taken a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love them! I love seeing maternity photos but when it came to doing my own, I got a little nervous because I can be pretty awkward, so the thought of posing for photos was a bit overwhelming. But our photographer, Kristin Anderson, was so great and made taking these photos comfortable and fun. And I am beyond excited to have them.

How far along: 33 weeks
Gender: GIRL!
Weight gain: 27 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Oh yeahhh. And I'm really looking forward to wearing my old clothes again.
Stretch marks: Nada.
Belly button in or out: Through my clothes, it looks like I have an outtie because the top of my belly button is sticking out in an odd way, but alas, it is indeed still an innie. So deceptive.
Sleep: Not too shabby. Still have to get up at least once a night to use the facilities, but I can usually fall back asleep pretty quickly.
Best moment this week: Ummm starting the work week on a Tuesday is pretty great!
Miss anything: Sleeping on my back. Erik woke me up the other night frantically because I fell asleep lying on my back... it's just so comfortable!!
Happy or Moody: Happy!
Movement: I ate some spicy chips with my lunch today and baby girl went crazy! Don't know if that means she liked it or hated it.
Cravings: Cocoa Krispies, peanut butter, Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches
Symptoms: I tried to go on a (power) walk with Kobe and Erik the other night and just couldn't keep up. So, fatigue. Oh, and indigestion is making a comeback.
Looking forward to: This short work week coming to an end!!

Oh My, Shepherd's Pie

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

Oh my. I can't believe it literally took me 25 years to try shepherd's pie. I've also never had pot pie. One of Erik's friends was appalled when he heard this several months ago, so he bought me a single serving frozen pot pie. But I left it in my car. And after a couple weeks of "what the heck is that smell?!" I found the pot pie under the passenger seat. So I still have never had a pot pie. But I'm onto something with this shepherd's pie.

Ingredients
3 russet potatoes
2 tablespoons sour cream
1egg yolk
1/2 cup cream
Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 pound ground beef
3 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef stock
2 teaspoons Worcestershire
1 bag frozen peas
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons parsley leaves

Boil potatoes until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain potatoes and pour them into a bowl. Combine sour cream, egg yolk and cream. Add the cream mixture into potatoes and mash until potatoes are smooth.

While potatoes are boiling, preheat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add oil to hot pan with beef. Season with salt and pepper. Brown and crumble meat for 5 minutes. Add chopped carrot and onion to the meat. Cook veggies with meat 5 minutes. In another small skillet over medium heat, cook butter and flour together 2 minutes. Whisk in broth and Worcestershire sauce. Thicken gravy 1 minute. Add gravy to meat and vegetables. Stir in peas.

Preheat broiler to high. Pour meat and veggie mix in a rectangular casserole dish. Spoon potatoes over meat. Top potatoes with paprika and broil until the potatoes are evenly browned. Top with chopped parsley and enjoy!

We're Having A Baby Next Month!

Monday, September 1, 2014

I woke up this morning and after realizing what day it was, I can't believe Baby A will be here next month! Unless she plans to do something cray cray and show up early or way late (my actual due date is October 19). I've never been one to want to know the future, but I would love to know exactly when baby girl plans to make her debut. But until then, I will continue cleaning like a mad woman, washing baby clothes, reorganizing our closet over and over, and decorating the nursery. Just like this babe is close to having a name (I know at one point she had an "official" name) the nursery is close to being done! So here is a peek into what we've got going on so far for our currently nameless and aerobatic baby gal.

Happy Labor Day, friends!
